Welcome to the League of Friends of the John Taylor Hospice
The League of Friends of the John Taylor Hospice is a volunteer charity that raises funds to support Hospice patients with life limiting illnesses and their carers. It responds quickly and flexibly to support specific patient needs highlighted by Hospice staff or their family/carer. It also deals with requests from the Hospice for associated project funding.
John Taylor Hospice itself funds patient care, staff and running costs by working with the NHS and local commissioning groups and donations from the community to make every moment matter.
The League of Friends is celebrating its 43rd Anniversary this year. The charity purchased the house next door to the Hospice to be the charity’s registered offices and acts as a support centre, for organisations such as CRUSE bereavement councillors and Poenix Bereavement Group, for the deceased patients relatives, who welcome comfort and advice at such a sad time in their lives. It also acts as overflow meeting rooms for the Hospice, when needed.
We welcome enquiries from organisations that may have related needs for use of the available rooms.
The League of Friends are supported by a committed group of unpaid volunteers who raise funds from a wide range of activities such as:
- Merchandising sales at various venues throughout North Birmingham
- Great Midlands Fun Run – in 2014 we have over 200 runners and a few dogs!
- corporate support
- coffee mornings at 72 Grange Road to welcome all supporters
- Annual Spring and Christmas fairs
- Concerts and quiz nights
- Legacies and Donations large and small
